Who's the best person to ask about HIV anxiety/OCD treatment?

Hi guys, I'm suffering from some anxiety.

I tested negative with an oraquick swab after my window period but I'm still silently freaking out because my kit was missing a piece and the oraquick website says not to test if that was the case, though the actual testing materials were there.  I highly doubt that this affected the test and I'm pretty sure I am being irrational.  After all, one of the people who frequents this forum who has worked with HIV patients said I don't have to worry.  Why is the Oraquick website so anal about it???

Anyway, my question is, where do I go to find counseling?  I'm tired of this controlling my life for no reason.  I'm kind of broke right  now because I'm in university.  Thanks.

A lot of universities have free counselors on campus.  Why don't you look up the counseling center at your particular university and make an appointment.

OCD is a tough thing. We'll believe anything when we're afraid. It doesn't matter if you have overwhelming evidence in the negative side of your question, as long as you find something small, like a tiny crack, you'll throw everything away and obsess over that. I suggest reaching out to friends. I know some will get annoyed and turn away, but in this time you'll find those who are faithful to your plight and then you will find your true friends, as if you were purifying them like a collection of gold.

Okay, sorry I couldn't figure out how to post in the HIV anxiety group (newb).  After searching on TheBody, it turns out that the high false neg rate in oraquick tests has to do more with the older generation of test and test expiration. Neither of which are issues for me.  Woo!

Idk.  I found a dude on TheBody who was convinced that birds pooping on him was a sign from heaven that he had HIV.  Don't wanna turn into that.  :/

Your private doctor can refer you to someone; or look in the phonebook or online for psychologists in your area. This is strictly an HIV prevention forum -- you might get other ideas if you post this question on the OCD forum.

All test manufacturers, including Oraquick, have to take conservative positions for legal reasons.
