i think i may have a OCD but im not sure

by charlotte21, Oct 18, 2009 06:05AM
Over the last year or so i have noticed that i always find myself picking at my scalp. Its really strange and a horrible habit and i cant stop it, even though it gives me terrible dandruff. I would pick at my dry scalp until it bleeds and when it drys i find myself picking it off and then waiting for another one to come. Im disgusted with myself for doing it but i cant stop and i find it sort of relaxing, picking it and examining it after.
i researched it on a search engline and it sounds like i may have a compulsive picking disorder. Is there anything i can do to stop it? I dont want to tell my mum as my friend a few months back as though to of have Trichotillomania, and she may think im being paranoid because of that or seen as 'jumping the attention seeking bandwagon'.
Ive had this longer for a year but only recently it is starting to sting when i stand under a shower head.
Firstly do you think i have an OCD and Is there anything i can do without telling my mum or going to see someone professional?
