yes i bite my nails this bad also and hate how the unsmooth parts snag on any material and they can't put fake nails on me either and my toenails are the same way also and band shoes kill me in marching season. I've tried manicures every month to that horrid nail polish and i hate gloves and never use them due to the snagging and when ever my boyfirend looks at my nails i hide them as much as possible because of the embarassment id love to hear some of your ideas on how to help quit it seems impossible to me

I also bite my nails right down as low as possible, most bleed through biting them so far down, I get very embarrassed if anyone mentions my nails, I did once try to get acrylics fitted, but, was told there's not enough natural nail to adhere anything too !
I have to get all my nails the same length, and hate any un smooth bits, my toenails are the same, and they really hurt ,sometimes ! I can't even wear shoes
doe's anyone else bite this appaulingly ? i'd love to hear if you do

I feel it is caused by nerves or anxiety and manifests into nail biting.  If it is a problem, see a doctor for help and move into the solution.

I do the same thing mon. I don't ever bite my nails, but I bite the cuticles. I have tried to stop a countless number of times. I came to the conclusion after analyzing what reward the habit gave me (since our brain probably does things to its benefits) that its a security habit. The pain given keeps my mind occupied, and provides comfort (much like kids who carry around a blanket with them all the time). The only real way to stop is to be conscious of what you're doing. Some will put a rubber band on their wrist and snap it whenever they start biting. Try it out.
