I have not been diagnosed with OCD because i haven't been to my doctors to confirm it, because i feel like a drama queen. But about 4 years ago i bought two dogs and i noticed when ever i locked up, i had to check it several times, it started off just walking down the street and running back to check the front door, the oven, the hob, the windows, and the backdoor. then its progressed into constantly checking, taking pictures on my phone so i can check when im out that i did lock up. But now its turned into videos and is just getting ridiculous my neighbours must think im completely crazy pulling the handle up and down while filming the door muttering the front door is locked a few times!
i thought it was just a fear of someone breaking into my house but i check the door several times even if people are at home.
can anyone give me any advise on how to control this, without going to my doctor? much appreciated sophie

OCD can only be treated by psychotherapy and/or medications.

yes you have ocd actually i think everybody does but people with severe ocd just can't stop. i have major ocd. we never win so the only thing to do i think to myself and say im alive and i can't do anything to change the past no matter how bad. im just not perfect and i try helping people more and makes me feel better. so i would say let the ocd be there and help somebody do something nice for them until you forget your own problems. we are just like that. i wish i had ADD.

To: sophie2412 ,
You really should go talk to your doctor about this. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. I waited a long time to tell anyone about my OCD issues (just came clean recently actually) because I felt silly & ashamed. Once I got it out I realized I wasn't alone & now I'm getting help for it. I feel so much better just talking about it.

I know it's not easy but I hope you do get help for it. The sooner the better! It's not good to suffer with this stuff. I wish I hadn't waited so long to deal with my problems but better late than never!

Good luck!
