ocd?

Hi, I am a 26 year old female. For as long as I can remember I have always picked at the skin around my nails. This is not a mere picking of the nail, but I pick at the dry skin around my nails and will bite it off and my fingers constantly look raw. I have tried several times to stop, the main reason I want to stop is because it makes my fingers and hands look very unattractive. The weird thing is when I start to pick, before I bite the skin off, I like to "rub" it across my lips. I also will chew on the hardness of the skin inside my mouth for a very long time before I spit it out. Yes, it is a very disgusting habit and I have no idea why I do it. Maybe some sort of stimulation? As weird as it sounds it feels good. I am not sure why. I have tried so many times to stop and of course before some period of time I just start to do it again. There have been times I have been doing it and literally did not realize I was doing it till blood was running down my finger. I am looking for any suggestions on how to stop. Thanks.
