weight gain on anafranil

I've been on anafranil for about 1yr for OCD (obsessive worring) not compulsions. In that time I've gained about 10lbs I know that doesn't seem alot but for me it is. I'm having a very hard time lossing the weight I go to the gym 3-4 days a week & have tried to watch what i eat. Any suggestions on how to lose the weight w/o going off the med or possbily another medication that does not have the same side effects. My md doesn't feel the weight gain is from the medication but i have never had this hard a time losing a few pounds before

Anafranil does cause weight gain! You could consider talking to your doctor about switching to a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor, which are also used to treat OCD and are not as inclined to cause weight gain. The may or may not work as well as the Anafranil for your OCD.
