if you truly have OCD, you should be seeing a psychologist and learning cognitive behavioral therapy. CBT is the first line of defense against OCD irrational thinking. Once you master it, you may be able to use it and be okay. Sometimes though it isn't enough and that is when medication comes into the picture. I have done it both ways. Meds, then off and solely relying on CBT, and then back on meds again. The thing you have to remember is OCD is for life. It doesn't go away but rather we simply manage to live with it either with CBT or a combination of CBT and medication.
