whatever this is, its taking over my life

Ever since I can remember I have been obsessed with cleaning my house. I have to wash floors, dust, vacume ect.. everything everyday.. I cant handle going out of the house till this is all done. the bed has to be made a certain way, dishes have to be put away in a certain spot ect..it drives my family mental, i strongly feel everything should be in its propper place and the house should be clean..now in having said that, i have four kids.. i do not run around picking up after them and it doesnt bother me when they make a mess..but when its time to clean up, i have to clean everything.. am i crazy

I dont know bout crazy but I also have rituals when it comes to cleaning my house and things not just the house have to be perfect before I can go anywhere less its a must or my husband pushes me out the door. But I have bipolar and ocd can go along with it as it does for me. Maybe you could talk to your doctor or a counselor and see if you need further evaluation.

speak to your counselor first, if you go to a pdoc he will dx you with all sorts of disorder. thoughts like this exist with completely normal people.

one goes to pdocs if he stops functioning only.

thank you, I spoke to my doctor about it and he said ocd, there are other things that I do aswell that he says ocd. I have another appointment this week to speak about meds for ocd.. has anyone taken meds for this and if so has it helped
