SINUS TARSI SYNDROME

SEPTEMBER 2009 I INJURED MY RIGHT ANKLE IN A POT HOLE. THE INJURY IS SO SEVERE THE PAIN IS 10/10 EVERY DAY WITH NO RELIEF.I HAVE SEEN SPECIALISTS AND HAVE HAD THE CORTISONE INJECTION BUT NO IMPROVEMENT. THE PAIN IS UNBEARABLE AND I FEEL I WILL BE A "CRIPPLE". I AM CONSTANTLY GETTING UP DURING THE NIGHT UNABLE TO WALK ON MY RIGHT FOOT. CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHEN I REST THE RIGHT FOOT WHY DOES IT HURT SO MUCH WHEN I STAND ON IT. ALSO LIVING IN QUEENSLAND CAN YOU SUGGEST A SPECIALIST. I NEED HELP.

Hello George,

I am not familiar with specialists in Queensland but I will provide suggestions in a later post after doing some research.  A few questions for you....

Did you have imaging after your injury (x-ray or MRI or CAT scan)?

Have you had physiotherapy/physical therapy?

From reading your post, you asked if I could suggest a specialist but, have you seen a foot ankle specialist yet?

Is most of your discomfort on the inside or outside of your ankle? Do you have swelling that has not dissipated or that returns with an increase in your activity?

Dear George,

Although 4 months is a long time to be in a significant amount of discomfort, musculoskeletal injuries can take months to heel completely and to rehabilitate.

I would encourage you to try to stay positive and engaged with your care team and to continue with your home exercise program (from your physiotherapist).

DEAR DR, I HAVE HAD AN XRAY, ULTRA SOUND, MRI AND BONE SCAN. I HAVE A LUMP SIZE OF A 5 CENT PIECE BACK OF ANKLE. PAIN IS 24/7 BUT MORE SEVERE 10/10 WHEN I GET UP AFTER A REST. I HAVE SEEN AN ANKLE SPECIALIST, PHYSIO, PODIATRIST BUT NONE OF THE TREATMENT IS HELPING. NOT ONLY HAVE I SINUS TARSI SYNDROME WHAT I HAVE READ ABOUT MY CONDITION IS CHRONIC TENDONITIS. BUT MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS 4 MONTHS AND I FEEL I WILL NEVER WALK PROPERLY EVER AGAIN.
