Glucose Test tomorrow....Skeered lol

So tomorrow I have my 1 hour glucose test, and im scared to pieces. I have had them before, and passed with flying colors. Im just worried that im going to fail lol. Will the docs give me my results that day? or will I have to wait another month before getting the results? I see my doc every 4 weeks.

i had mine last week and the nurse is the one who drew the blood and then just put it in a little sugar tester (like diabetics use) and she told me instantly

I'll be right there with you.  I gotta go do it tomorrow too.  Not looking forward to it but if I remember correctly it wasn't that bad except for the tase of that stuff you havve to drink >YUCK<  but other than that it's no big deal.

Hi,

I failed my  1 hr glucose yesterday,  They called me this morning and now i have to go in tomorrow morning. after fasting for 12 hrs for the 3 hr glucose test.

The 1 hrs isnt as bad as i thought it would be.  They gave me a 10oz lemon lime softdrink i had 5 minutes to drink it and they took my blood an hour later.  It wasnt syrupy or gross at all.  It kind of tasted like a watered down sprite

uelgh, i have mine on august 8....what are we supposed to do for that hour? or the 3 hours? or the 5 hours? sit around and twiddle our thumbs with our thumbs up our btts lol???

the 3 hour one is really nasty....it makes the baby hyper lol

jesslee83-the one hour one goes fast...bring something to read...the three hour bring a lot to do..it tends to get boring

My doctor was smart and scheduled my follow up ultrasound on the day of my glucose test so I get to go drink the syrup and then have my ultrasound for an hour and then go back.  Im glad she did this because my boyfriend would be complaining about how bored he was otherwise.. (he has a really short attention span and no patience) lol

Don't worry yet.  Alot of us are right there with ya!!  I take mine in 2 weeks.  Last pregnancy I was 1 point from failing the 1 hour but then I passed the 3 hour with flying colors.  Also around that time glucose was showing up in my urine which is a big indicator and none of that has gone on this time so far.  So good luck and don't stress out yet.  Keep us posted.

with the 3 hour they test your blood right when you get there and then they give you 100ml of that drink...you wait one hour and than you get blood again, than after that you wait another hour and they take more blood and than one more hour they take more...make sure you don't eat anything for 12 hours

I guess I will have to bring my nintendo DS and some mags. I also have to bring my over night bag because I just got the call that my step sister will be induced tomorrow afternoon/evening. Poor hubby will be all alone with my 2 boys all day tomorrow and all night...lol oh well he has frozen dinners in the freezer he will survive.

I just hope they give my results tomorrow, because that will atleast make the wait worth while. Good luck to those who have thier glucose test soon!

will nitrates affect the results? i didnt mention to the nurse who did my urine sample about the bladder infection that refuses to go away despite meds(but apparently it's NOT harming alex, so i'm fine!), and she was like, can you do this again you have really high nitrates....and i'm just like oh yea duh i have a chronic bladder infection lol......but that doesnt mess with glucose does it?

I had mine today, just got home then (its 5.30 pm in Australia). It wasn't bad, except that I had just had a big lunch and ice cream and then had to go and drink that gross drink (here it tastes like really sweet lemonade without the bubbles) ew. So then I felt all bloated and yuck. But other than that it was ok. I guess if you take something to keep you occupied and you are ok with needles it isn't too bad. I hope all the October mummys are doing great. October is coming up fast now! Yay.

I go for mine next Thursday.  They told me to avoid sugar and eat eggs and cheese that day.  Wish me luck!

eggs and cheese? that sounds like throwing "gas" onto the fire lol....my cousin told me to eat what i usually eat before i go(i have mcd's sausage bis w/cheese and hashbrown ;)  )  and she told me to drink it quickly or i'll realize just how sugary it is.....

I just got home from my test.  They didn't give me the results today.  It was like a really sugary orange soda drink which is really gross because for one I don't drink soda (can't stand the bubbles) and two, I do NOT like the artificial orange taste.  So I ended up getting sick halfway through the drink and had to wait an hour and then start all over.  But they give you ten minutes to get it down.  I tried to drink it fast so I wouldn't taste it so much but that didn't work out so well for me.  I really hope I pass it because I really don't want to have to drink that stuff again.  I'm okay with them sticking me and sucking my blood just keep that drink away from me.  But if you like orange soda you'll be okay.  It just tastes like very sweet orange soda.

I had my test a last week, it is not that bad. The drink isthe wrost part of it. I got my results back a few days later

I had my test this past wednesday and got my results before leaving the office. The nurse poked my finger and tested my blood. I tested at 107 and  passed with flying colors. I picked the lemon lime flavored (doctor recommended it) and it was carbonated too. It was not as bad as they used to be 20 years ago.

My doc's office gives you the results the same day, but  guess every office id different. IDK how the 3-hour test works, and I haven't had my 1 hr. yet--will be taking that Aug. 7th. I'm a bit nervous as well, because supposedly the risk is higher when having twns :-(

you were so right about th 3hr test. yuck it was way worse than the 1hr one. this time i actully got really sick and light headed and felt like **** but i knew i had to stay there for the entire time.....but thank god im done with it...
