Class 3 Malocclusion

Hi, I've been diagnosed with Class 3 Malocclusion, slightly traumatic. The Orthodontist recommended Orthognathic Surgery which will take place after abt a yr on braces. Is that the best way to treat the problem?

How serious is my problem?

Without having all the information (models, clinical examination, radiographs, photographs etc) it is impossible for me to say if it's "the best" option.  However, in general terms orthognathic surgery is a treatment option for severe Class 3 malocclusion.  A second opinion consultation with a surgeon is certainly a good idea.
