chin numbness

chin numbness

I recently had an abcess (abscess) in my left lower rear molar previously capped. After removing and "opening" the root for drainage of the abcess (abscess), my chin and lip (left side only) became numb. At present (approximately 3 weeks later) I am still numb, but experiencing a pins and needles, bee sting sensation in the inner, fleshy part of my chin, while the exterior portion remains numb. What is wrong?

It sounds as though the infection is causing pressure on the nerve.  This leads to impairment of the impulses.

You need to see a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon as soon as possible to insure that the infection is resolving.
