I am going to have dentures put in and I am scared because I have troubles with getting sick after having dental work done.  I also have trouble with the fact if I go without a meal i become very ill and get headaches but I cant take pain medication without having something in my stomach and I was wondering the day i get my teeth exacter and get my dentures will be able to eat that same day at least soft foods.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
There is an adjustment period going from natural teeth to dentures.  False teeth are roughly only 25% as effective chewing as natural teeth.  Most patients tolerate the change but it can take time.

Speak openly and clearly about your concerns to both the dentist making the dentures and the surgeon performing the procedure.  Make sure they understand your concerns and demand they provide you with a satisfactory explanation.

You should also consider "socket grafting" and possibly dental implants either immediately or in the future.  Speak to the surgeon about this before the teeth are removed.

I know this is going to sound crazy but, make sure you get more than one opinion, cause, I just recently had my top teeth removed and a denture put in however I still can not eat, now everyone is different, I am not sure how old you are I am only 37 and I can still only eat  mashed potatoes , baked and soft soft foods thats all I can eat I still can not bite down it hurts. I would say heck no dont do it unless its so bad it could harm you or result in death then do what you must. But I had my surgery on a Thursday and I could only eat for that day Clear liquids then the next day I could go to Soft Foods and its been 4 weeks now and I am still eating soft foods, so Please Please CHeck everything more than once or you will be mad and upset that you did this I know I am I cant stand this Denture it hurts ajustments are horrible and eating is the worst.
I am not trying to scare you more but dont want you to make a poor choice as I have dont and I can not go back and get Teeth back Unless I go and get implants which is an offer just very expensive and more surgery,

I hope this helps a bit
Thanks
Jennifer
