Dislocated Knuckle

My 9 almost 10 year old son dislocated and fractured his pointer finger. He was casted the same day. Then six days later they decided to recast it so that if the swelling went down the knuckle would't slip.  His cast was removed today and it looks like it did the first day.  They said its fine and the lump below where the knuckle should be is just the new bone regrowth.  Does this sound right...any opinions?

I'm sorry, but without the xray, its really impossible to say.  If you are concerned, you can, and should, get a second opinion.
