Knee Pain and Popping Sound

by JoeNaz, Sep 18, 2009 10:06AM
For the last 2 weeks I have had a pain and popping sound in my left knee. I weight train regularly and 2 weeks ago I began a cardio program alternating Stationary Bike, Mountain Biking and Jogging. I have not really done any jogging since about 1992. I jogged for a mile and a half twice and the popping an pain began.

I only have the pain and popping when walking. In the last 2 weeks I worked my legs twice doing squats, lunges, leg extensions, dead lifts and leg curls. I also continued doing cardio on a trainer. It does not pop when working out or using the bike.

I have researched a miniscus tare and an ACL tear but I do not have all the symptoms of either but some of both.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your help

I doubt this represents a traumatic injury, such as an ACL or meniscus tear.  From your activities, it may be chondromalacia patella (wear of the cartilage behind the kneecap), mild arthritis, or plica syndrome.
