RT bicep torn 3 wks out MUCH PAIN

by student_mom_in_wa, Mar 19, 2009 09:11PM
On Feb. 26th I tore my rt bicep proximaly. X-ray said nothing was broken.  MRI shows a 7-8cm retraction.  I AM IN PAIN!!  It is only getting worse. I have seen two specialists that said "your only and mother and wife so get over it and there shouldn't be pain". It hurts at the front of my armpit down my arm to my elbow.  I am on Vicoden twice a day and muscle relaxers they aren't helping.  The radiologist told me my bicep was torn at both heads but the Dr.s disagree.  What do you suggest?  Confused and frustrated with lots of pain.

Proximal biceps tears usually resolve without pain or functional problems. However, they are often accompanied by rotator cuff tears, or other problems within the shoulder.  Ocassionally they present with cramping pain in front of the shoulder, but this usually goes away.  Sometimes a physical therapy program can be helpful.

Combined proximal and distal biceps tears would be very rare.
