Throwing Therapy after broken Ulna near wrist

by mom24boys2009, Nov 03, 2009 10:11AM
Labor day weekend my 12 year old son was in an accident and broke his forearm near the wrist.  He ended up having surgery two weeks later when the bones were not lining up correctly to heal and pins were put in to hold the bones in place.  The bones started healing nicely after that and the pins were removed three weeks later and then the cast was taken off Oct. 28.  He has been to physical therapy twice and is already improving pretty well.  He is a serious baseball player that had a great arm before this injury and he will be trying out for his middle school's team in early January (the injury was to his right arm which is his throwing arm).  Will he be able to get back in good enough shape by then to throw the ball from shortstop to first and from the outfield into catcher?  The coach had mentioned making sure that he does throwing therapy.  What is that exactly and who should we look to to provide that type of therapy?  Thanks!

I just realized that I said ulna and it was his radius.  Sorry about that!
