Hip joint reconstruction replacement

Hip joint reconstruction replacement

My mother, age 75 underwent bilateral  knee replacements and left total hip replacement.  Post op hip replacement showed that her pelvis is now tipped and her left leg is now longer than the right by aprox 1 1/4".  It has now been 2 years since the surgery and she is still experiencing considerable bilateral knee and hip pain despite physical theraphy and the use of built up shoes.  I have taken for consolutations with pain management, a pediatrist and another Orthopedic Surgeon who now wants to replace the right hip in an effort to correct the tipped pelvis and the leg length discrepency.  Can the tipped pelvis be corrected in surgery, or would they just hope that the pelvis corrects itself, and is it possible that her pelvis can tip the wrong way even further leaving one of her legs even longer? Any feedback prior to me scheduling her would be greatly appreciated.

The pelvis is tipped because of the apparent leg length differential. This can be corrected when her other hip is replaced.  However, I would be leary that all her pin would be alleviated by correcting her leg lengths.  If her hip is very arthritic and causing pain, that is another story
