How long for recovery of sprained thumb?

hi, I sprained my thumb 6 weeks ago from an injury, I saw my Dr.,had X-rays(no broken bones) and have been wearing a splint off and on. It has improved but is still not completely right. any idea how long it can take to heal? Thanks

Sprains are injurues to ligaments, usually partial, but occasionally complete tears.  Most minor sprains heal in APPROXIMATELY six weeks.  This is an average, some take more.  If the pain persists, speak to your treating doctor, firther testing may be indicated.
