Infraspinatus Tendinitis/Bursitis Injection. Where to go?

Infraspinatus Tendinitis/Bursitis Injection. Where to go?

I had a MRI done that stated I have Infraspinatus Tendinitis and Bursitis.  I also had an office exam that the Neurosurgeon stated my pain was indicative of the deep distal end and superficial distal end may be in injured. I have had significant pain since October in lifting heavy boxes up and down and carving a large pumpkin the same day.  It is difficult to raise my arm or put it behind my head. I also have nerve twitching behind my arm.

The Neurosurgeon who did my scans while I was out of town told they are sending me a referral for a cortisone shot as he normally does not deal with these injuries. He said to possibly start with pain management.  I am looking for guidance as to where I should go with this referral?  Should I start back with an orthopedic surgeon in my town or make an appointment with an Anesthesiologist directly?  Who is more likely and seasoned to do injections into the shoulder?

I am having daily pain and thank you for your guidance.

Thank you

this is definitely not an issue for either a neurisurgeon, nor a pain management specialist. This is every day orthopedics. You are are experiencing what is known as rotator cuff syndrome, or impingement syndrome. The rotator cuff is made up of 4 tendons surrounded by a bursa. With repetitive overhead activity, these structures can become inflamed. Routine management consists of rest, NSAID's, cortisone shot, and physical therapy.  Ocassionally surgery becomes necessary.
