Is my knee issue serious?

I play ice hockey, and over the last 5 years I have had recurring knee issues with my right knee.  My right knee clicks and pops a lot when I walk.  Now, tha doesn't generally cause pain, but any time this problem does occur, it is accompanied by related issues with it.  For example, if I try to get on my knees (happens a lot in hockey) I have a lot of trouble and pain getting up off my right knee.  I feel like the shin moves inward.  I did just have surgery on my left knee for torn ACL/MCL/Meniscus earlier in the year, but that knee is acting pretty normal when I get up on it.

This issue with my right knee occurred on and off for about 3 years, it went away for about 18 months, and just started up again recently after a fall I took on it.  After the fall the symptoms slowly came back, and the pain and popping is getting much more frequent in the last few weeks.  This isn't preventing me from playing hockey right now, but I am worried it might be something semi-serious.  Thanks.

Painless clicking and popping is not generally a cause for concern.  However, since it is now causing pain when you get up from a squatting position, that is another story.  This could be a torn meniscus, or could be wear in the artiicular cartilage, freqently called chondromalacia.  Either way, it would be a good idea to get it checked before you cause further damage.

I should also mention that since the fall that seemed to cause this knee issue to reoccur, my right hip has also been clicking furiously, with slight irritation.  This has never been an issue for me in the past, although minor clicks in the groin area have always been common.  But never anything so loud from the hip.
