Jones fructure

I injured my foot late September and went to a podiatrist a week later. He told me it was Jones fracture, put on a soft cast and a tall pneumatic boot. I tried to stay off my foot as much as possible.  Another x-ray 8 weeks later showed the fracture was half filled. The cast was removed and I was allowed to stop wearing the boot after another week or so.  I  wore it for two more weeks just to be sure and then stopped wearing it. A few days later my foot suddenly got very swollen, almost as bad as it was when I first injured it and I am not aware of anything that could possibly cause it.  Is this common?    Do I need another doctor? Thanks

Sounds like the fracture may not have been completely healed and now the metatarsal has rebroken. A "Charcot foot", a complication of foot injuries in diabetics is also possible.  Either way a visit to an orthopedic foot specialist, and repeat xrays is important at this point. Please see the previous discussion regarding Jones fractures for more information.
