bicep tendon tear

bicep tendon tear

I tore the tendon attached to the bicep from the shoulder, the tendon actually tore from the bicep muscle itself not the shoulder, I have the "Popeye" look in the arm when I flex my arm, Can the tendon be re-attached to the muscle, I have no pain or limit of movement, Dr. said no surgury was necessary, it has been almost a year since the incident.

Proximal biceps tears usually do not cause any significant deficits or pain. In fact, often times the treatment for a partial tear is to complete the tear arthroscopically. For acute tears, a tenodesis (reattachment of the tendon further down the arm) is used to prevent the "popeye" deformity.  However, at a year post injury, it is not advisable.
