pain stretching

I'm a 42 year old male and have recently taken up stretching as a means to balancing a moderate exercise routine. I've noticed that when I stretch out my right foot, I sometimes experience experience a sharp pain in the side and pad of my large toe. It feels almost like I'm tearing tiny muscles or vessels, but I don't see any proof of bleeding or brusing on the toe. I've had pain in the same area in the past as a result of walking barefoot on my hardood floors, but not in a long time. I'm wondering if this could be turf toe, or if i'm even addressing my concerns to the right forum...

Could be turf toe, which is actually arthritis of the the first MTP joint,or it could be medial sesamoiditis. I would recommend evaluation by an orthopedist along with a set of xrays
