I have "bone-on-bone" in the joint of my big toe on my right foot, due to osteoarthritis, much pain and getting worse.  Short of surgery (which has been suggested) to replace the joint, would synvic1 by injection help?  If so, for how long.  I am 62 yrs old and the thought of surgery is uncomfortable, BUT the thought of putting up with this pain for perhaps 30 years is unthinkable.,

The use of viscosupplementation in the joints of the foot has not been well described in the foot to my knowledge.  This would be whats known as an "off label" use, i.e. not a use of the product that has been approved by the FDA. If it works, it would only be temporary at best.
There may be other surgical options available, besides a joint replacement.  Perhaps a second opinion might be a good idea at this point.
