5th Metatarsal Avulsion Fracture: After healing, how long till I can run?

5th Metatarsal Avulsion Fracture: After healing, how long till I can run?

I have an avulsion fracture on the base of my fifth metatarsal, after rolling my ankle skateboarding.

My doctor put me in a wallking boot for 4 weeks. 2 weeks have gone by, I have been pain free and my foot is looking very good.

Assuming my follow up X-Ray goes well, I should get my boot off and be OK to walk.

After my boot is taken off and I'm allowed to walk, how long do you think it will be until I will be okay to run or skateboard again?

Hi there!

Even if your follow up x-ray goes well, you would need to be in the boots for atleast 2 more weeks to give space for near complete healing. Weight bearing and movement would need to be started gradually along with physiotherapy and it may be a few more weeks before one can resume normal activity and skateboarding.
Hope this was useful.

Take care!
