AVN

I was diagnosed with Bitlateral AVN of the knees in 1999 in 2001 I subsequently underwent a total knee replacement on the right.  I developed infection to which I underwent surgery to clean out the infection which was unsuccessful and later underwent the removal of the replacement and antiseptic spacer was put in for 6 weeks and then I went back to surgery to have that removed and a new replacement put in.  At the time of  the surgery the addhision were so bad the had to cut the upper muscle in a V shape in order to remove the spacer and then the replacement was put in.  But due to the adhession regrowing I now have a knee that is basically frozen in somewhat of a stright positon.  I am now having severe pain in the left leg that now has extensive AVN but I have been told that there is nothing they can do for it.  Surgery is not an option due to the results of the last replacement.  They did offer steriod injections and physical therepy to which I refused as we have done all of this with no relief and to some extent only increased the amount of my pain.  I was also informed that the pain that I have developed in my left shoulder is probably the same thing.  I don't what to do or where to go from here.  My thought is how am I going to be able to deal from this from here.  Niether leg functions and I am in a power wheelchair.  I would give anything to be able to get rid of some of the pain and maybe some day walk again.  I am thinking even to artifical legs would be better than what I currently have. I am only 47 and wish I could get part of my life back.  If anyone has any suggestions that might help me it would be great.  Disabled and wishing I had my mobility back.  I do have some arthritis as well as akolosing spondilitis as well but even with that I dont see why I couldn t walk again do you?  Linda in NY
