Advice. Help?

Ok hi . One year ago april 7th i was hit by a car i broke my left leg compound fracture of my tibia , i had surgery that week and they placed a rod in my leg with 2 screws top and bottom  the problem is one year later i went to see my doc again cause i was having some pain and he ordered a CT scan ? the scan showed that the fracture isnt healed all the way and that callus is holding it together i guess i have alot of callus cause its actually causing ahuge raise/bump to the skin around  . Now he wants to take the rod out and put a  thicker one in its place to help the bone heal . Anyone had a fracture that didnt heal right away ?

My advice would be to get this sorted as soon as you can.  I say this because it is looking like my 9 year old fracture of tib and fib has only resulted in my tibia having a union.  I am now in loads of pain (which I thought was my ankle) and it is looking like my fibula hasn't healed at all over the years.  This may mean further surgery to remove the lump of callus that has formed which is possibly interfering with my tendons.  This I can really do without.

I too was hit by a car and broke my left leg.  Research has suggested that the tibia is the most unsuccessful bone in the body to heal......great!
Good luck and if you aren't happy with what you hear from the docs, make a noise!
