Advice for cuboid fracture treatment s/p fall July 2006

Nearly 2 years ago I fell while walking in some cute wedge shoes.  My weight pretty much crushed my left foot under me.  The next morning I woke up with massive swelling and bruising to the dorsal and lateral aspect of my foot.  Xrays were negative and I was sent home on crutches and an ace wrap.  After several weeks, the pain was still severe and also under the ball of my big toe.  I went to a podiatrist who looked at my original xrays and said I just had sesamoiditis.  Nothing was done.  I subsequently, a few months later, got pregnant and just endured the pain.  My baby is now 5 months old and I went back for another evaluation as my foot pain has never gone away.  I had xrays that showed a non unioned fibular sesamoid fracture.  However, I still had significant 4th metatarsal foot pain so I had a CT.  The results show 1 )the sesamoid fracture with no bony bridging and 2) and old fracture deformity at the dorsal lateral aspect of the cuboid bone at the tarsometatarsal joint measuring 7mm in maximal diameter with partial bony fusion.  My questions are:1)Would proper earlier diagnosis had made my outcome better and 2) what is the recommended treatment for both fractures at this time?  I have an appt coming up with the dr but I'm curious about the advice of others with experience in this type of injury.  Thank you
