Friday, my husband was diagnosed with an ulnar collateral ligamentAnterior cruciate ligament (acl) injury Tendon vs. ligament injury and placed in a short cast for 4-6 weeks. He was prescribed some kind of medication that was supposed to be called into the pharmacy. But it wasn't. And the on-call doctors do not handle medications at all. Is it possible that the medication was some kind of sedative? The reason I am asking is because my husband was incredibly agitated last night and still is somewhat today. I have NEVER seen him like this! Last night he was trying to pull the cast off, couldn't sleep, pacing, etc. It was very disconcerting! Is it normalNormal saline flush for a person to become so agitated from having a cast?? Should I take him to the ER to get something for him?? I don't know if I can go 2 more nights (until Mon.) like this!
Check if the cast itself is not too tight or compressing on to his nerves or blood vessels and causing increasing in pain and unbearable symptoms.
If the cast is fine, then he needs a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys counseling and it is good to give him one or two aplrazolam pills to calm him down and for having a proper uninterrupted sleep for couple of days.
