Ankle Pain

I have been given a prescription for Synvisc injections into the intra-articular area of the right ankle, most of the information I have read has been about injections into the knee, do you have any information on the success of this treatment for arthritis pain?

I have had 3 injections into my right ankle now. The first one gave me great relief for 3 months. Then I got the second injection and that lasted for almost 8 months before my ankle started locking up on me again when I would climb stairs etc. I probably should have got the third injection after 6 months, but just wasn't able to get in. Had the third injection about a month ago now and I can walk with very little irritation of the joint. It is still quite swollen, but at least it doesn't hurt. I would recommend you give it a try. Just make sure they freeze your ankle before the injection. The joint is pretty tight, and needles poking into bone doesn't feel too good.

Good luck
