Ankle and foot swelling

I had a motor vehicle accident on 5/25/09 which resulted in a cuboid fracture and microtrabecular fourth metatarsal fracture of my right foot.  The fracture didn't initially show up in xray, so I was hopping around on it until 6/18/09 when a second doctor ordered an MRI. I was initially put in a cam walker and then was casted on 6/30/09. The cast was removed on 7/30/09.  It has been almost three weeks since the cast has been off and I still have swelling in my foot and ankle along with discoloration.  The ankle joint is also very stiff and hurts with weight bearing.  My question is, is it normal to have swelling and discoloration in my ankle when that wasn't the part of my foot that was injured? If so when should I see the swelling subside?   I would appreciate any guidance you can give me.
