Any danger is stretching calves first thing in the morning?

Six years ago I had a fibroma removed from my plantar fascia on my left foot.  Since then I have been careful to keep my feet in good shape.  A couple of years ago I got in the habit of stretching my calves (by leaning toward a wall with one foot elongated behind me) as soon as I get out of bed in the morning, because I had read that a tight calf muscle puts more stress on the plantar fascia.  My question is, is this a good practice to do this or not?  Or am I putting myself at further risk? The reason I ask, is because the other day I stretched a bit too aggressively first thing in the morning and felt a strain/burn in the bottom of my right foot.  I just don't want a preventitive action to turn into something that causes harm.
