Anyone had a broken tailbone

Anyone had a broken tailbone

Hi there and thank you for reading my question. My sister fractured her tailbone and was wondering how long it will take to heal and not hurt? What meds did you take? Any restrictions other than the obvious? Thank you for your input and best wishes to you.

A good friend of mine broke his tailbone while we were snow boarding. It took him about 6 weeks for it to heal. He didn't take any medications but had to be very careful what he did for the first couple of weeks.

Is it completely broken or just fractured?

Hi, few of the precautions to be taken for a tailbone fracture are:-
Avoid sitting down for long periods of time and prefer alternate sitting on each side of the buttocks. For traumatic injuries, apply ice to the tailbone area for 15-20 minutes, four times a day, for the first few days after the injury. Use ibuprofen, or a similar pain medicine, as directed on the label for pain control. Use a cushion having a hole in the middle of it to prevent the tailbone from contacting the flat surface and avoid constipation. Regards
