BioSil for Osteoporosis?

I am 81 and female. Because of my age it was recommended that I have a bone scan. What are the symptoms of osteoporosis (aside from fractures)? I show no signs of arthritis or any joint problem, in fact, I am extremely flexible. If I had osteoporosis would I also be having joint problems?

I have been taking BioSil (a bioavailable form of silicon) for several year as part of my supplement regimen, and recently read that this increases bone mass and density. Is this true?. Any information would be much appreciated.
