Bone Bruise or Fracture???

Bone Bruise or Fracture???

The other night I slipped and landed on my elbows, but the left elbow absorbed the majority of the impact.  My right elbow visually looks worse, but that one just feels like regular annoying bruises.  My left elbow instantly hurt and was iced.  It’s been two days, which I realize is not very long at all, but the pain is intense.  I am able to function, I just don’t use my left arm if I can help it, but my hand works fine.  The worst pain is when I try to straighten it, raise up, lift something, or to the touch.  My elbow hurts ALL the time, but any activity, even typing aggravates it.  It has minor swelling, but no discoloration.  My first thought was that it was a bone bruise.  I have never incurred a bone bruise on a joint before, so I assumed that would account for the extra pain.  I am becoming paranoid that I might have a hairline fracture.  I know one should not try to self diagnose online, but I am trying to decide if I need to go to the Doctor.  I realize only a doctor can accurately diagnose this and and x-ray and mri are ideal.  But I am out of town for a week and in between insurance plans, so a doctor is not ideal.
Also, how would treatment differ between a bone bruise and a hairline fracture?  I still ice it a couple times a day and have been taking Tylenol.  What would a doctor do, other than rule anything more serious out, that I couldn’t do on my own?
Thanks in advance!
