Bone tumor on right hip

When I was 17 I was in a bad car wreck and had to have alot of xrays. The dr found a bone tumor on my right hip. I was sent to a cancer specialist in memphis and all this specialist did was lay me on a bed and move my leg around and tell me it was benign. I am now 36 and have had alot of pain in my hip and now have arthritis in both knees. I love the outdoors and enjoy hiking in the mountains. I recently went to my dr and wanted to have the tumor checked out and he sent me to an orthopedic surgeon. The surgeon just laid me on a table and moved my hip around and didnt really even check out my knees. My knees give me more pain then my hip. Im more worried bout my knees. The surgeon made me an appointment with a surgeon that specializes in hip replacements. I dont want this. Im just wondering what my options are. I really need some advice. Im very scared and dont know what to do!!!
