Broken Ankle 5 months ago still painfull & Getting Cold?

Hello All :doctor: ,
I really need some help and advise on my ankle there has been so much confusion about where i am and how much longer it's going to be like this??

Started end of October last year, My right foot got run over by 2.5 tons of stock on a pump truck. I was wearing steel toes capped boot but it the steel onto my toes (had alot of trouble getting off).
I went to A & E had an x-ray they said there is a fracture but it is old, just sent on my way.
I Really tried to work but cos  it so painfull i couldn't bear it and i have a very high pain threashold.
About a week later i'm not sure i couldn't sleep or weight bear for that time i went to another A & E.
They saw the crack also but said it was more like soft tissues damage was causing the pain.
After casting it for about 2 months i kept complaining of hot intense pain once the cast removed, my foot was spotty and pink. A couple days later i went to my gp he said i had invection in the foot. Tendonisous? Stonge Antibiotic's given
My work paid for Physio as the hospital took 8 weeks to make an appointment. i did 8 sessions i only had 20% movement.
I now have had 8 weeks worth of sessions i can move it better but still in alot pain with mass swelling and discolouration.
Everytime i have fallen on it i have gone to hospital to make sure i haven't damage it further, no damage as far as they are conserned.

It's been 5 months now and i'm still having mass swelling  and discolouration most pink and dark purple with white spot when i touch it!!, I have sharp and hot pains on the inside of my ankle (like someone put petrol in my ankle and liting it), the pains run from my inner ankle to my toes and up my calf sometime can't can't walk on it???

I used hot and cold compress's/ Foot bath with mild massage/ I do my physo 5 times a day/ and i massage my foot with anti brusing cream 1 once a day/ 3 times message with a leg stimulating cream to make sure i'm working out the scar tissue!
What more can i do to fix my ankle?
Is there sommething i'm not doing right?
What will it take to get this better?
I'm waiting for an MRI scan at the moment but i really need to get back to work. And get on with my life.
What can you recommend to do to get it sorted in under 3 months?
Please help me i'm 24 with the restriction of an 80 year old (no offence :giggle: )

In last couple of days even though im using my ankle (very painful) i'm finding it's ice cold to the touch and i'm having to warm my ankle up by hot water bottle and heat pack? and i've been moving but well rested?
help?

I would go back to the ER if I were you.  Cold to the touch and there is still swelling and discoloration.  I would demand a doctor to check for circulation.  That is a sign.  I am not a doctor but have learned pathology, anatomy and phys for massage therapy.

June 2013. I am 47 recovering from a very bad broken ankle. Broke all 3 bones. I have a rod a plate and maybe 8 screws in my ankle. This happened February 2 (4 months ago) This was the most painful severe thing I have ever went through!! And this is a person who was run over by a garbage truck and have 3 bones fused in my neck! That was nothing compared to this...and all this from stepping down from a stair and losing my balance, might have been my long shoe string. What ever this totally *****! I was in the hospital a week after surgery. In a cast for 10 weeks. Now I have a walking Boot and have come to a stand still. The swelling and pain are so severe I think I would be happy to cut my foot off. My Dr. took me off my pain meds cold turkey! I have been back 3 times to my Dr. crying in pain. My toes feel like someone is running a knife over the top of them cutting them. The sides of my ankle feel like a dagger being shoved in and turned sideways. If I try to put weight on my foot, it feels like what ever is in there is making hamburger out of what meat I have left. You can see my screws almost popping out of my skin. The burning and stinging is HORRIBLE...I can't take much more. I am a nervouse wreck, depressed, can't stop crying. The last trip to my Dr. I was accused of seeking pain meds. I have been off them for a month and told him I didn't want them so he put me on GABAPENTIN 300mg. It works a little. This is aweful. Would more surgery help? Taking out my plate and screws? I am desperate!!!

Im having the same problem I broke my ankle 5 months ago and it feels like I just did it. I have a plate and 5 screws in my right ankle. And when its cold my foot sniffs up. The dr told me in Nov that Im goin to need another surgery to take them out. I keep letting him know that my foot gets sniff. Ice cold and that aggy burning pain oh yeah and it feels like the screw is turning around in me. I haven't gotten any pain killers since I had the surgery back in August.

Hey there Bulter ...
My heavens, you have really been having a bad time of it! Do you mind me asking where you live? The reason I'm asking is because the health care there seems to be a bit of a mess! You go to the ER and they missed the fact your ankle was broken, good grief! Here you spent a week walking around on such damage, it makes sense that it only caused more damage. I read everything you wrote and it sounds as though you are doing everything you can to get it better. I believe I recognize that feeling of a hot, sharp sensation - as though someone lit gas on your foot. I broke both bones quite badly in my lower leg and after surgery I had the same feeling you're talking about. In my case it was nerve damage - it felt like someone was lighting matches and tossing them on my foot. Now, in the same area, I have no feeling on my foot.
What does your doctor have to say about the problems you're having? Sounds like you need to see an orthopedist or a neurologist - perhaps both! It just doesn't sound as though your ankle is healing properly. You may have to complain louder in order to get someone to listen to you! But you can't rush the healing process - and some injuries need more time than others. My leg STILL bothers me, even after 4 (plus) years. I had it s-rayed some months ago and the radiologist said that it was still healing!
My heart goes out to you and best wishes for your recovery! Stay in touch!
