Broken Clavicle

Hello,
June 2009 I had surgery for a broken clavicle. The Dr. put in a locking plate and screws, and did a bone graft from the pelvis to fill in the non-union. Last week I started feeling pain in the shoulder again. When the Dr. took x-rays, we discovered that the plate had broken into two pieces. I have not been doing any real physical activity, such as lifting weights or anything that would put pressure on it. The question is, do these plates break very often? I thought they were made of titanium?
Thanks

Hello!

It is unfortunate that the plate is broken, as this is not very common and occurs rarely.

But the natural pull of muscles and tendons makes it theoretically possible.

You have to go for repeat corrective surgery, discuss with your orthopedician.

Take care!
