I am 35 husband and father of 4 children.  I was involved in a car crash at 18.  The car crash changed my life forever.  Previously I had been slated for a career in law enforcement.  I suffered a broken hip socket and from that point on I could not fulfill my dream.  A ... [More] t that time I was given lots of "hardware" to hold my hip together.  Fast foreward 16years.  My leg constantly loses circulation if I sit for more than 10 minutes.  I have severe arthiritis throughout my right side.  I walk with a major limp. When I walk around in public people constantly ask me "Are you ok? you look like you are in a lot of pain".  I have trie all the otc meds and really cant afford prescriptions nor do I want to get hooked on any.  I live in pain all day.  I cannot work because I need to constantly walk around on some days and others I cannot walk at all.  I have spoken to many Ortho Surgeons and they all say the same thing.  "You need a hip replacement and without insurance it's not gonna happen" I say all this in hopes that someone reads this and is able to help me find an Ortho Surgeon that does Pro Bono surgery and who can help me lead a normal life with my children and wife.  Thank you

Hello!

With severe arthritis, ligament damage and cartilage loss there would be no treatment with medications and hip replacement is the final cure to get over the pain.

You have to wear a brace if required and also restrict or modify your gait or movement to decrease the pain.

Try consulting a physiotherapist if some form of exercise and gait modification helps you.

Wear proper shoes, take intermittent pain killers apply ice packs and also consider taking low dose naltrexone to decrease the pain. Try steroid injections and also viscosupplementation if it can decrease your pain.

Follow up with your orthopedician with a proper plan to control the pain before you can afford replacement.

Take care!
