Capsular Labral Tear of the hip

by janis222, Oct 20, 2009 01:10PM
Anyone had a capsular labral tear of the hip? I had an MRI with arthogram last week (hurt like a MF, but I survived).

This all started due to a fall on the ice last Jan.  I had Physical Therapy for about four months and thought I was healed.  Then in August I re-irritated it.  It hurt for awhile, so my primary thought it would be best to schedule the MRI.  It started to feel a little better, then about two weeks ago I twisted wrong and it flared up again.  Ironically enough my MRI was not far away, so I thought I would just wait it out.

My primary had given me Robaxin in the beginning and it worked great then...but the last two weeks its done nothing! It feels like all the muscles in my thigh and hip are tight and knotted.  Its now starting to cause my knee to ache.  My primary had given me Vicodin last week after the MRI but when I asked about a different muscle relaxer he just said, well the Robaxin should be working.

I feel like I'm pestering my doctors office, but I can't get them to understand that the Robaxin isn't working and this spasming is making it so I can't sleep at night.  It bothers me during the day, but it seems like a walk in the park compared to what it does at night.

I have an appointment to see an Orthopedic Surgeon on Thursday, for him to review the MRI and give a second opinion to my primary.

Anyone else gone thru this? Is the spasming normal? And did surgery make it all better or should I try to heal this without surgery.  I'm only 30 and I just hate the idea of going thru a hip surgery at my age.  Not too mention I have to two kids under the age of 6.  (I'm a stay at home mom) so this surgery idea isn't exactly what I want.
