Carpel Tunnel Syndrome & Release

I was having trouble with my hands (computer/secretary for over 35 years) and an Ortho doctor said that I had CTS.  I had an EMG study and was told carpel tunnel as well.  An Ortho surgeon (in great depth) agreed and recommended surgery.  I had surgery on my right hand for CTS in October and hand the left hand done in February the following year.  Then another Ortho doctor (with not in-depth exam) said that I have arthritis and not CTS.  How does just one doctor say I have arthritis and not CTS?

Is it possible that there can be a reoccurrence within 6-9 months after surgery?  Or some reoccurrence of symptoms.  Should one be re-evaluated for possible nerve damage?

Pls respond

Arthritis does not result in electrical shock feel at the ends of your finger tips - nerve impingement does.

Arthritis is inflammatory towards joints. Its also detectable by a blood test - did you get this or is this doc just guessing?

You could have both.

You can also have a pinched nerve anywhere along the median nerve from the neck/spine, under the collar bone, shoulder area and even the elbow. The cause is a different area, the resulting feel is the same in the hands/wrist at the end of the median nerve.
