Cervical disc prolapse

Cervical disc prolapse

I suffered with neck tightness for 2 months. I went to several doctors and i finally took MRI of my own.My MRI shows I have posterior and right postero lateral disc prolapse at C4 - C5 indenting theca and right nerve root at lateral recess.
Posterior and bilateral postero lateral disc prolapse at C5 - C6 and C6 - C7 indenting theca and narrowing bilateral neural foraminae. loss of cervical lordosis.
I dont have pain in my neck but in my arms and legs i feel pain, i have some strange feeling in my neck which i predict as like some muscle spasm inside.I sometimes feel weakness over my limbs.
I went to several doctors. finally with one ortho doctor suggestion, i did traction and i am following some exercises. Now i dont get pain in my leg and arms. It comes rarely.
I cannot tolerate my head getting wet with my sweat which increases my neck feeling tight and also chillness.
what do i have to do? is traction enough to prevent from more serious damage?
My recent problem is my sudden right hip pain which radiates to my back of my leg and also in my feet. What is the possible reason? Will anybody answer for my question please. What is the serious damage caused due to this? How i should be careful?

Hi there!

Well, without an evaluation and probably a few tests it would be difficult to predict the cause of your hip and back pain though this could be due to degenerative disc disease as well, with possible pressure on the nerve roots; though separate etiologies form the hip pain and back would need to be considered as well, like fractures, inflammations, avascular necrosis etc. As for the management of the cervical degeneration; traction and physiotherapy would help stabilize the spine and controlling the symptoms, but may not be as effective in preventing further degeneration and at some stage a surgical intervention may need to be needed. I would suggest consulting your orthopedician for an evaluation of either of these conditions and appropriate management.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
