Chondromalacia patellae

I have been having knee problems for 2 and a half years. About a 2 years ago i was told there was a cyst on the back of my right knee and last year I was told I had chondromalacia patellae. They sent me home and said there is nothing we can do for you. Since then my knees have both gotten measurably worse. I was wondering if there is I should be doing. I wear knee braces during karate and on walks. And I take naproxen daily. Should I be doing anything else or is that really all I can do?

I also do some exercises I found  online to strenghthen some muscle to make my knee caps track right. A little over a year ago I got orthotics but they don't seem to help my knees.
