Chondroplasty

I had my knee  arthroscoped.  During the procedure, the surgeon repaired my torn menicus; he smoothed the rough cartilage under my knee cap.  Additionally, he found that my plica was immense and he removed it.  Lastly, upon removal of the plica, he observed that the cartilage on the area under the plica had been worn away.  He performed a chondroplasty on that section.  He said that that was not a weight bearing part of the knee and he encouraged me to be off of crutches within a couple of weeks.  I have performed my therapy exercises religiously.  After about 6 weeks it appeared that I was doing fairly well.  The doctor said that the best thing that I could do was walk on a flat surface.  It did that and since then (three weeks ago) the pain in my knee has increased.  A few days ago I had to return to my crutches because I was unable to walk.  Does anyone know what has happened.  The doctor is unavailable.

Hello Dear,

I can understand your problem well.
What has been the indication for surgery?
What has been the cause of the torn meniscus?
Has been there any trauma?
The inability to walk could be due to some degeneration (osteonecrosis) of the operated cartilage.
A MRI would be helpful for better evaluation.

Best.
Take care
