Chronic Tietze/Slipping Rib

by SarahIsSore, Feb 05, 2008 09:45PM
Hello, I have had costochondritis/tietze or a slipping rib for 4 years.  It was misdiagnosed for the first 2 years.  It is the third rib in the front.  I have tried Advil, Myoflex, Physiotherapy, Chiropractric, and Prolotherapy.  I continually rest it and do not strain it in any way but my rib is constantly moving further out of place and getting inflammed.  It has completly taken over my life.  Is there any other treatments out there?  Has surgery ever been preformed for this kind of situation?  I would appreciate any knowledge on this topic.

How many prolo sessions did you have. It worked for me and my ribs stay put as long as I go back a couple of times a year for a tune up. My job causes me repetive starin and leaning over the shampoo bowl is killer ojn the ribs. I recently had 3 out at once and couldn't get out of bed.

Yes, surgery has been performed to remove the affected costal joint. It's a method of last resort for treatment.
