Collarbone Surgery?

When i went to the ER after i broke my collar bone in a hockey game, the lady that took the x-rays and showed me them, mentioned that there is surgery for the collarbone. is it bad enough to get surgery? will surgery speed up the healing process? we have about a month and a half left till state and the least i want to do is skate around at practice and shoot around with my team since i'm a captain and care about my team.

If you are in active sports then go for surgical correction.

If you can wait then you have to understand that most of clavicle fractures do not need surgery. Clavicle fractures unite readily even if widely displaced; hence reduction of the fragment is not essential. A triangular sling is sufficient in most cases.
A figure of 8 bandages may be applied to a young adult with a displaced fracture.

You have to take the call after discussing with the orthopedician.
