Confused about x ray results!!?

Confused about x ray results!!?

Long story short i fell on my hand two weeks ago and x rays came back with "signs" of fracture but no definite fracture. Yesterday one week after the injury i had the hand re x-rayed which showed angulation of my ring finger and a possible central fracture?? (my x ray was only read by a radiologist and not yet by my ortho doc so i was told that my ortho doc might see a fracture when he looks at it)any ideas what this means or what a doctor would do to treat this?? ANY advice appreciated and welcomed!!

hi kay,
well for angulations also orthopedician don't do much, unless it's causing functional deformity.  Only for cosmetic purpose, no one is going to touch this angulation.
SO relax and tell me, do you have and functional disability due to this angulation?

Thanks so much for your reply! I can not make a fist and have only slight motion in my ring or pinky fingers.  I also have a hard time like flexing or pointing my wrist to the ground.  I don't know if this is due to the angulation or if i might actually have a small fracture, but i think i have an appointment with a hand specialist this week and hopefully get this figured out.

hi kay,
it's good that you are meeting a hand specialist. Once you meet him, i think he will ask for the X-rays. So please get a copy of those X-ray sand post in in this forum, so that i can see it. Do let us know as what he has told you. This nmight be some knowledge for me also.
There is a sign of affected pinky. All pinkies point towards "SCAPHOID" bone. but the problematic pinky doesn't. TO know more, please check on the web. where does scaphoid bone lies.

I will be sure to post those x rays once i get a hold of them! and will  be sure to tell you what the doctor has to say. Thanks for your response!, and i will keep you posted!! Also is there anything special i should be doing for my hand right now?? They splinted my hand but i have not been keeping it on much because it hurts my hand to keep it on.

Does it hurt because it holds your hand in an uncomfortable position, or does it hurt the fracture directly?
I broke my hand 3 times in one year, and I spent a ton of time between a splint, a cast, and a brace. When I had the first splint it was very uncomfortable, and I did take it off sometimes, but if I took it off I only sat/laid down with my broken hand on a pillow.
I alternated a lot because having the splint on hurt my whole hand, and having it off made the break hurt more.

Either way, it's probably better if you leave it on...
Aside from wearing your splint, I'd say nothing if your doctor didn't say anything. Maybe taking Ibuprofen a couple times a day if it's swollen. Swelling also might be the cause of your discomfort while wearing the splint. It's possible your hand has swelled since they made the splint.

All the best.
