Congenital Hip exercises??

Hello...
I am just about to turn 41 years old and was born with a congenital hip.  I've had slight problems over the years but i've noticed in the last couple years the stiffness, pains and aches have started and been steady.  Right now there's a continous pain and major stiffness.  I've decided to eat much better, drop some pounds and go to the gym.  What are good exercises, if any, for my hip and what stretching exercises can I do whether it's everyday or before I go to the gym.  I played 4 years of high school basketball and a year in college and never really had any problems but I was much younger then  heehee.
Thank you,
Dena

What is your hip problem?  I was just diagnosed with acetabular retroversion, which basically means my hips are misaligned and degenerating.  I have not found a doctor that knows anything about my condition.  I have a lot of pain from my knee to my mid back on my left side.  It started as a pain in the buttock area, as in sciatica, and has now spread.  I have pains in every muscles surrounding my left hip.  I have had the pain for a year and a half and it is getting worse by the week.  I am trying to find an orthopedic surgeon that can help me but so far, I've been told that nothing can be done or been refered to someone else.  Do you have any of these symptoms?  Please let me know if this is what you have, I would like to find someone that has the same thing.  Thanks,

Hi,
Hip exercises which help you in strengthening of muscles of hip joint will help.
Strengthening of the hip and leg muscles may help pain symptoms and strengthen the limb.
If you are having pain and stiffness, I think you need to be evaluated.
There are various causes of pain and joint stiffness.
In the low back, referral pain patterns commonly present in the hip or leg. A classic example of a referral pain pattern in the lumbosacral spine is low back pain associated with aching buttock pain. The lumbosacral region and buttocks are both innervated by L4–S1. However, when low back pain becomes chronic (lasting more than 3 months), the evidence regarding its etiology and pathophysiology is much more scientific and complete.
How long are these symptoms? What kind of pain it is? Can you describe stiffness?
Keep me informed.
Bye.
