Dislocated Fingers- still cannot move

6625462?1297125686
Fell, fingers bent backwards. Dislocated "third proximal interphalangeal join". 'dorsal and ulnar dislocation of the third middle phalanx on the proximal phalanx." Dislocation of the 5th PIP joint. dorsal and ulnar dislocation fothe 5th middle phalanx of the proximal phalanx. Acute avulsion fracture in volving the distal ulran aspect of the middle finer proximal phalanx with minimal displacement.

2 weeks now since it happened. I can move the entire middle finger, but no joints will bend - it's just straight. It's also still swollen. No pain. Wondering if this restricted movement is within the norm.

My first ortho appointment is still next week. I got x-rays at the er. Was wondering if I should have had any other things done like MRI etc to check tendons/ligaments. I can post x-rays if helpful.

Hello!

It is very important for you to wear finger splint for all the affected fractured fingers for 3-4 weeks. If your orthopedician thinks buddy tapping is beneficial he should go ahead.

With non dislocated simple fractures the above method is sufficient. Go for present day scans to understand healing.

If you have problems with healing and other soft tissue complications then you have to see a hand surgeon and consider surgical repair.

Take care!
